Final Project: My Boston Tea Party Ship

I first started with working around the the shape that the ship will be in.
I then added a floor base and started layering the sides.

The next two pictures is the inside of the boat. On each side are a couple of beds and also some bookshelves. I also decided to ass some torches for light.

This is the view of my ship with added windows from the front of the ship side.

This is the view near the door and head of the ship.

Here is the angle of the ship from the rear end view.

After building the inside i filled the ceiling/floor of the ship. I added another green layer on top of the yellow. On top of the green i added white. I also made the flag poles in the middle of the ship.

Then added the arms of the pole in which if the proper cloth was held on it would help the ship move with assistance of the wind.

I then added the "flag" part of the ship that helps the ship move when there is a lot of wind. I'm unsure of the proper word. I also added some tea crates.

This is the picture that i used as a reference while building my boat,

Examining Gender, Race and Body Image in a Virtual World

I first entered into Braunworth infoclub. I was a Caucasian young woman with brown hair. I tried chatting with some people in this world and no one seemed to answer. I walked around, stood in front of some people and i never got a response.

I then went into Xuna's Rock Dance Club and Mall as a young African American woman. There were a lot of different avatars in this world. Many of them were chatting but once again no one responded to me. As I did with the world before i walked around and tried to be social with others.

On my last stop i went and joined AEG Ambrosia Dance Club. People were more friendly in this virtual world. I was able to chat for a bit with one other person. In this world i was a Caucasian male that was tall with dark brown hair. I found it funny that I was a male avatar with a girls name and someone was still willing to respond.

Identity in the Context of Virtual World

I found virtual identity to be very interesting, ever since i started taking computer courses that required me to use virtual worlds. Something that I have learned in virtual worlds is how limited one person may be to creating an avatar that is similar to the players physical characteristics. I was not surprised to read that some virtual gamers do not create their avatar to look similar to themselves. Entering the virtual world is like entering a world where you can completely start fresh with no judgment because no one knows who you really are.

(Meshmoon)

When Yee explained that in her studies she noticed that introverts personalized their avatar to look more like themselves it was a bit shocking. I would think that those who like to keep to themselves would want to create an avatar that is their complete opposite. Whether that be with looks or with personality. Since introverts like to create avatars that fit who they really are i would guess that the gamers personality would be more out going and feel more comfortable chatting with people who they do not know.

(MineCraft)

As I mentioned before all avatar settings are different in each world. When I used Meshmoon i was limited given limited options to my avatar that all depended on which world i entered. When i used MineCraft or even Second life all options were different. But i would say that when using Second life i did feel as though i was entering a real world. It is really easy to chat with different people and the different worlds look very real and the avatars act very real.

(Make a Human)

Another big piece to identity and virtual worlds is how society can poetry what the "perfect image" is. Some people grow up with the a certain knowledge or opinion to how others should act or look. When people grow up not being able to express how they would actually like to be as a person whether that's with personality or with looks. They seek outside opportunities to try out different options. Just like the professor from South Korea, his avatar was of a little girl. That in itself might show some characteristics of the professor or even show desires that he never had.

(Second Life)

In all, the study of virtual identity can show or prove a lot about the gamer. Although it is not psychological I do believe that it has a lot to do with desire. Desire to be a "person" that a gamer can not show in their everyday life. As virtual worlds start to advance I do believe that it will attract more and more people to use virtual worlds as an outlet to their real life.

Final Project: Group Old State House

This is all of us working hard making our base after we destroyed our fist version of the unfinished State House.

I started to help build the walls.

I then started to help build the roof.

Here I helped build the center piece we first did it in a different color then this tan color because we realized that that middle part is not grey it is tan.

There was some confusion on the size of the windows but we were able to figure it out and i helped adjust these windows.

These last three pictures is the final product to our beautiful State House. GOOD JOB CLASS!

This is a project using minecraft to build a replica of the old boston statehouse as a class. It is a final exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal athttp://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc

Final Project: Old State house

I first started with a base before i started to construct the Old State House.

I then went to building my walls.

Here i was able to finish building all the walls of the building.

This is the top of the State House.

I started to build the white part at the top of the State House.

The next two pictures are of one of the sides of the state house. I first started with the top windows then worked on the small balcony and finished with working on the  bottom windows.

The next two pictures  are of me working on the top piece of the building.

This is the completed top piece.

I then started working on the other side of the building making some open space for the windows

This is the other side of the building there wasn't too much detail needed on this side expect for the number of windows needed.

The final two pictures are my completed  Old State House!

These are the three pictures that I used to guide me while building the State House.

This is apart of my Final Project. I had to build a structure in MineCraft that looked like the Old State House in Boston. I used the brick for the entire building, then the stone, some sandstone, and clear glass for the rest of the building. It took a long time to build up all the walls, but once that was done, it wasn't' too difficult to make it look comparable to the actual building.
