3D Printing

On February 9, 2015 Boston announced that the next Immersive Education of 2015 will take place in Paris, France. In this years summit it will include six different technologies such as Virtual reality, Holograms, Robotics, 3D Printing, Neurogames, and Cybernetics. Within those six technologies there are different companies that are currently working with some of those technologies. Companies such as Microsoft, Google, Apple Watch etc. There will be an announcement in March in regards to the date and venue of the summit. For more information feel free to visit http://summit.ImmersiveEducation.org

In 1984 Charles Hull had invented Sterolithography. This technique is very similar to the work done with 3D printing. 3D printing is made of very thin layers of the object being printed. Laser sintering, fused deposition modeling, and Sterolithography are three different methods of ways used for 3D printing.

Selective laser sintering scans the object that will be created. It then uses ceramic, plastic or metal to create the image using the 3D printing. Sterolithography uses a liquid to create its object; it follows a certain pattern that the liquid will then also follow to create the object, Fused deposition used a metal wire or a plastic filament that will then unwind passing through a heated nozzle. The nozzle can move through any direction while creating its 3D object.

In this video it shows how 3D printing works and also the products that it can produce. The image would be created through a computer just as regular printing is produced. 3D printing would be very convenient when it comes to creating toys in my own personal opinion. I also think that this product can benefit others in different  and convenient ways.

3D printing does not limit itself to only high end companies. People at home also have a chance to purchase on and create their own 3D objects. A RepRap is a personal 3D printer that can be purchased for a thousand dollars. The RepRap comes in a kit and can be put together to make the 3D printing.

This image shows the steps in which the 3D printing works. It is very interesting to see how the process of 3D printing. In a way a person can look at this printer similar to regular printing. With 3D printing it is easier for people to produce there own products.

The future can benefit a lot from this technology. It can inspire many to be creative and produce more objects in hopes to benefit the future. This technology is known but it is not commonly know as a technology that is regularly used now. More information on this product will be held at the summit this year in Paris.
